Hello Golfers,

Welcome to this week’s Holywell Pro Shop Newsletter. It’s been a busy few weeks whilst I have been away, and the season is in full flow with our second medal of the year coming up this Saturday.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t bring the sunshine back with me from Florida and this week we have seen the return of the dreaded snow. It looks like that is now behind us and we are set fair for Saturday.

Captains' drive-in

I want to start off the newsletter by congratulating Mike Green, Nerys Jones and Haydn Jones on what I hear were great drives.

I’d also like to wish them well for the coming year.

Competition results

Gents Open 4BB

What a Day!

On Saturday 172 players from Holywell and further a field took part in our first open of the year. I have heard a few people mention that a field of 172 might be a record number, whether it was or wasn’t it was great to see so many people enjoying our great golf course, especially the 59 away players that took part.

Since I started at Holywell, we have really struggled to attract away players in to our Open events and even had to cancel two last year.

A big thanks must go to the Golf and Social Committee for changing this, specifically Dave Thomas who as ever has been fantastic in organising the start sheet and doing the scoring.

Also, thanks to Richie Alli and Mike Green who were on hand all day to greet all the competitors when they arrived.

Last year’s Captain, Richie Alli on the 1st tee with the first group of the day at 7.30am.

The order form for this year’s captain’s shirt is now up in the Gents Locker Room.

Mike has chosen the colour Aqua for this year’s shirt and it will be priced at £34.95.

Running on empty?

Traditional vs Prizm lens
