Welcome to this week’s Holywell Pro Shop Newsletter. It’s been another quiet week at the club as the snow hit again on Tuesday and Wednesday meaning the course has been closed.

Again, we are hopeful the course will open for the weekend but looking at the forecast it doesn’t look like the temperature will rise enough to clear the snow. But the clubhouse remains open for drinks and a game of snooker or if you need to get your golf fix come and make use of the swing room for as little as £5.

In this week’s newsletter we recap Saturday’s results and look forward to some exciting new products arriving in to the shop.

Competition results

Am-Am with Friends

On Saturday 115 players took part in our second Am-Am with friends’ competition of the winter.

It's great to see some of you bringing guests from other clubs to come and play in this competition and showing them what Saturdays at Holywell look like. Unfortunately, both times we have run this competition the weather in the afternoon has been awful. Which is why it comes as no surprise to see that both the prize winners teed off early.

Congratulations to The Captains team for taking 1st place and a well done to all the other prize winners:

1st Richie Ali, Ian Reid, Lee Miller and Ian Bradshaw – 63pts - £38.81

2nd Dan Hayes, Kevin Hayes, Terry Commins and Gerald Williams – 62pts - £19.41

Nearest the Pin 12th – Phil Johnson - £35

Nearest the Pin 15th – Pete Jones - £35

There were only 4 twos recorded, each two was worth £19.41

Mizuno ST190 Woods

A brand new range of woods from Mizuno are due in to the shop around mid-February. These woods look fantastic and are getting very strong reviews from around the world.

Many of the players that are contracted to use Mizuno irons have now started to use the woods which hasn’t always been the case. If you remember back to when Luke Donald was world number 1 he used a TaylorMade Driver, that’s not the case this year, Luke is using the new ST190G.

Skechers Golf Shoes

This year I have joined up with Skechers to stock their shoes at Holywell. It’s a big move for me as previously because FootJoy has always made up much of my shoe stock both here at Holywell and in previous jobs.

The reason for the move is simple. Quality and value for money. I am yet to hear a bad review of their shoes and they offer much better value for me than FootJoy in my opinion.

I am expecting delivery of the bulk of the shoes in early March, but if you would like me to source a pair before then please be sure to ask.

For the FootJoy lovers out there, I will still be holding stock of the most current FootJoy shoes, just not in as big quantities as previous years.

Club events

Quiz Night – Wednesday 30th January

After the success of the quiz night in December it has been decided that there will be one running monthly from now onwards. This time Kevin and Linda Leech will oversee the questions, but we hope to rotate the hosts from month to month so if you are interested in being the quiz master let me know.

Please come along and enjoy what is a great evening at 6.30pm for a 7pm start with everyone welcome, members or non-members at £5.00 per team and a maximum of 5 in a team.

Dinner Dance – 16th February

This year's Golf Club Dance will be held on Saturday 16th February 2019, the cost of the Tickets is £27.50 per person, which will include food and entertainment. There is a sheet up in the foyer for you to put your name down.

Please try and support this event, as members of the club you are able to invite family and friends.
