In this week’s newsletter we will look back at the results from the passed week’s competitions.

Competition results

March Medal

The original March Medal was cancelled due to a waterlogged course, 5 months later it was a beautiful calm day at Holywell and once again the scores showed it.

Special mention to Colin Barker who after 35 years of trying finally achieved a feat I am yet to achieve and had a Hole in One on the 15th hole. Colin took out a hybrid club and after landing by the side of the green it took a small bounce right and rolled in to the hole.

Nearest the Pin 12th – Jake Massey - £35.00
Nearest the Pin 15th – Colin Barker - £35.00

There were 7 two’s and a hole in one. Each two received £4.68 whilst the hole in one was worth £32.72.

Midweek Competition

It was good to see another strong turnout in the midweek comp with 45 people playing.
On a personal note it was nice to see the two winners being players who I have recently given lessons to. Well done guys and keep up the hard work.

Division 1: 1st – Chris Pierce – 28pts - £30.37
Division 2: 1st Marc Parry – 28pts - £30.37

There were 3 two’s recorded, each two was worth £10.12

HSS Pro-Am Qualifier

The Holywell GC Pro-Am will take place on the 28th September 2018.

Every year the HSS kindly enter in a team and to decide who plays in that they hold a qualifier. This year 49 players from the HSS entered the qualifier and the scoring was staggering. Out of the 49 players there were 21 players who scored 36 points or more and 40 points placed you as far down as 7th.

Congratulations to the following players who have been selected to play in the HSS team:

Qualifiers:
1st – Mal Payne – 42pts
2nd – Tom Carroll – 42pts
3rd – Dave Thomas – 41pts

Reserves:
John Hewitt – 41pts
Lawrance Hughes – 40pts
Ian Walker – 40pts
Brian Law – 40pts

There were 6 two’s, each two was worth £8.16.

A special mention to Tom Carroll who after taking lessons with me since I began at Holywell has reduced his handicap by 3 shots after his latest successful round - next stop single figures!

Flintshire County Captain’s Day

President Alan Williams, Captain Richie Alli, Vice Capt Mike Green and HSS Chair Kevin Leech were beaten on a c/b by P&B with an AMAM score of 98 at County Captain’s Day. So close.

The start sheet for this event is now up in the gent’s locker room and the bus will be leaving Holywell at 8.30am. There are still a large number of people who haven’t paid. If you wish to pay on the day you will need cash but cash or card can be taken prior to departure in the Pro Shop.
